Dentofacial orthopedics involves aligning teeth and modifying growth to improve function and aesthetics. Contrary to popular belief, it is not always recommended to wait at the permanent dentition before starting orthodontic treatment.

Several function problems can be intercepted at an early age and treated with growth modulating devices avoiding more extensive treatments in adolescence or adulthood.
